12-17-08;
The economic
downturn has hit home. The bad news is that we have a lot more time to produce
videos.
An all new
update of the "This Old Shack" survival episode is on the way!
12-14-08;
We've finally
gotten Microsoft Silverlight to work with our videos. That's good news because
Silverlight plays videos with better color, higher definition and has more user accessible
controls. Silverlight requires a plugin for your browser. Episode
7 of "This Old Shack" is done, which is about our hybrid
conversion. Part 1 is here, part 2 is on the way. 12-13-08; I
hate winter. How
to prevent ice storms: Keep gas in your generator (Murphy's law 107.43) In
the discussion portal, we're
playing with a news delivery system that also has some really annoying
ads.

Let the
boo-hooing begin.
A friend
of mine has a father who is over 90 years old. He lived through the depression
in the 1930s. According to him, this economic condition is worse in several
ways. 1.
This downturn is a lot faster than in the 1930s. Yes you had the fast drop in
the market but the general downturn took a couple of years. This one took days. 2.
The complete lack of credit to lower end (ANY business other than a bank)
businesses, consumers, homeowners is much faster and larger than in the 1930s.
You'll note that my conservative collogues have ended their "you can still
get loans" mantra has ended because you better have a wheel barrow of cash
to pony up to the bar. 3.
The government is doing what it wants rather than what the citizens want. Good
luck telling your representatives what you want them to do. The
central banks of most countries are now playing "wack a mole" with
economics. They fail to realize that they are following trends, not leading them
in their perverse attempt to show everyone who's boss. It could lead to a
complete failure of the economy.
